USDC runs on the Ethereum blockchain, so you need to make sure that you’re on the “Ethereum Mainnet” network. By default, the “Ethereum Mainnet” is selected. If you’re not, you need to click on the network dropdown box and select Ethereum Mainnet.
Here's how to add USDC to Metamask on Ethereum:
Log-in to your Metamask and click on ‘import token’.
The page 'Add Tokens' will open. Click on the tab Custom Token. See the screenshot below.
After you click on Custom Token copy and paste this USDC contract address: 0xa0b86991c6218b36c1d19d4a2e9eb0ce3606eb48.
You may also go to CoinMarketCap and search for USDC then copy its contract address or just follow this link: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/usd-coin/.
MetaMask will display USDC as a token symbol field and number 6 in Decimals of Precision field. Click on the Add Custom Token button.
Step 4:
All you have to do is click on the Import Tokens button and USDC token will be added to your Metamask Wallet.
Success! You can see the token under the “Assets” tab. You will now be able to send or receive USDC.
To send USDC, click on the USDC token, click on “Send”, and paste the receiver’s address. To receive USDC, copy your wallet address by clicking on the duplicate icon under “Account 1” and share it with the sender. You’ve successfully added USDC to MetaMask!
