Yuji Kaida is a popular Japanese illustrator who is known for his illustrations of film monsters. He has drawn dozens of popular monsters, foremost among them Godzilla, as well as many characters that have been less well-known outside of Japan until recently. His detailed graphic depictions of monsters have gained worldwide popularity, and Kaida is proudly recognized as a renowned monster artist in Japan.
He was borned in Hyogo Prefecture in 1953. Having been fascinated by monster and special effects films as a child, he was actively involved in doujinshi (fan publication) while still in art college in Kyoto. After graduating, he became a professional illustrator and worked on numerous high-profile properties, including Godzilla, Macross, Gundam, Patlabor and Tomy's Zoids. Kaida produces and creates monster and robot characters for books, magazines, and comics as well as packaging artwork for video games.
